Looking back at 2025 and ahead to 2026

A question to all my business connections: how has your start to the year been? Our instructions are ramping up after a slow start.

Today was especially enjoyable, a survey on one of the few beautiful dry days so far.

Anyway, I thought I’d take a look at a selection of some of the fantastic estates, houses and listed buildings we have been instructed to survey in recent months. And that includes the house at the top of this blog. As a surveyor, you know when you are in for a treat, and a long day! And these are the jobs we love. A big thank you to everyone that has recommended and supported us. I thought I’d share some of these with you here…

Last week, after taking my time (i.e., not rushing!) surveying a house in one of the most spectacular of locations in West Sussex, I was rewarded with a stunning sunset just before I left – great to see the sun!

It can be bitingly cold sometimes, and lofts can be unbearable in the height of summer, but let’s face it, its not a bad vocation, is it?

So, is this the start of a great year or a false dawn? Looking ahead to 2026: I rarely make predictions, but since the latter part of last year, I’ve been telling people to buy property, before they miss this window of opportunity. The British have a habit of all moving at once, and I sense we could be approaching that moment…
